Patient and Family Partners Program

• Someone with lived or living experience of a mental health or substance use challenge, or a family member supporting someone with lived or living experience of a mental health or substance use challenge?
• Eager to serve as a partner to help make key decisions at CAMH?
• Able to share insights and information about your own health care or research experiences?
• Interested in how policies, programs, documents or projects will affect patients and their families?
• Excited to contribute to improving mental health and substance use and addictions care and research outcomes?
• Willing to devote your time to participate in different ways such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, working groups, and meetings?

All Patient and Family Partners that join the program will be a part of our Patient and Family Partners Program. As part of the program, you can choose to receive information about relevant engagement opportunities, will be eligible to participate in training and workshops, and can subscribe to our newsletter(s) to keep updated on news and events related to patient and family engagement at CAMH.

CAMH has an honoraria policy that explains how patients and families should receive payment for engaging with CAMH. We will go through this with you when you are introduced to the program.

Your involvement in the Patient and Family Partners Program is completely voluntary. If you decide that you are no longer interested, please contact pfpprogram@camh.ca and we will archive your information so that it is no longer visible. CAMH is obliged to retain information records for 365 days and will destroy your archived information once the wait period is over.

Your information is kept on the CAMH secure server and is only accessible to staff members in the program and to staff who would like to connect with you about an opportunity. All CAMH staff and physicians sign confidentiality agreements and are bound by legislation to retain your information as confidential.

CAMH aims to keep you updated on how your contributions shape our work. Some outcomes may happen long after your involvement is complete but receiving feedback should be a part of the process. Some results may be showcased as updates on this page or in our e-newsletter. Please sign up if you would like to receive ongoing information about the program.

You are free to ask the project staff how you will be kept up-to-date about the project you are involved in.

For some opportunities you are more than welcome to engage as a partner, even if you have not been treated at CAMH. You will receive more information after you complete the application form.
