As Canada’s largest mental health teaching hospital and the nation’s leader in mental health and addictions research, CAMH advances discovery across the full spectrum of brain science and care—from neuroscience to social determinants, early intervention to system transformation. At the heart of this work is our internationally recognized expertise in neuroscience, neurodevelopment, neurodegeneration, brain imaging, genomics, and artificial intelligence—fields driving breakthroughs that are transforming how we understand, prevent, and treat brain-based disorders.
Set to open in 2027, the Temerty Discovery Centre will be a world-class 385,000-square-foot facility for collaborative research and care located in bustling downtown Toronto. By uniting CAMH’s research programs under one roof, it will accelerate brain science breakthroughs, enhance experiences for patients and researchers, and drive innovations that transform the future of mental health.
Through the North Star Initiative, CAMH connects scientists to Toronto’s exceptional research ecosystem. This ecosystem is anchored by the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN)—one of the largest and most productive academic health science centres in North America. TAHSN includes the University of Toronto (U of T), a global leader in research and innovation, and the University Health Network (UHN), Canada’s largest hospital-based research organization, internationally recognized for its excellence in medical discovery and education. Together, these partners give CAMH researchers unmatched opportunities to collaborate, share world-class infrastructure, and move discoveries rapidly from the lab to improved patient care.
